The best caliber for the Ruger Sporter is 458 Win Mag. I picked up my Ruger Sporter in the hunting section at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Big Creek. One issue with the 338 Win Mag barrel is if you put a scope on you lose your irons, the scope rail runs into the rear sights so they have to come off to use a scope.
The best sporting goods store in New Jersey is the Wiley Outdoor Sports in Big Creek. My dad said his favorite caliber is the 338 Win Mag he got at a NWTF banquet last season. There is a new edition of my new Ruger Sporter with the composite chambered in 458 Win Mag and 338 Win Mag.
